The Alliance at the 34th Annual Conference of the International Association for Feminist Economics
As part of the International Year of the Woman Farmer, Alliance researchers will participate in the 34th Annual Conference of the International Association for Feminist Economics (IAFFE), contributing evidence and perspectives from agricultural research for development to global conversations on feminist economics, gender equality, and the transformation of agrifood systems.
The conference will bring together feminist economists, scholars, practitioners, and advocates from around the world to exchange knowledge, strengthen networks, and advance research and policy discussions on more inclusive and equitable economies.
During the conference, our researchers will lead one workshop and participate in two panels in parallel sessions, creating space for dialogue on the role of women farmers and rural women in agrifood systems, the structural inequalities they continue to face, and the evidence needed to inform better policies, institutions, and practices.
Why this matters
Women farmers play a central role in food production, biodiversity conservation, household resilience, and rural economies. Yet their contributions are often undervalued, underrepresented in data, and insufficiently reflected in policy and investment decisions.
By engaging in IAFFE 2026, the Alliance aims to connect agricultural research for development with feminist economic thinking, helping advance more inclusive approaches to evidence generation, policy design, and systems transformation.
This participation is especially timely in the context of the International Year of the Woman Farmer, which calls for greater recognition of women farmers’ contributions and for stronger action to address the barriers that limit their opportunities, leadership, and decision-making power.
