Luisa María Claros Trujillo

Luisa María Claros is a Research Associate in the Performance, Innovation and Strategic Analysis (PISA) for Impact Unit at the Alliance Bioversity International and CIAT. Her work focuses on the qualitative evaluation of multi-country programs—using market systems evaluation and contribution analysis grounded in Theory of Change—alongside value-chain analysis and business-model development across agricultural commodities, with particular interests in gender and social inclusion. She has led rapid value-chain prioritization and produced market and chain profiles for cocoa, honey, allspice, beans, and biofortified rice in Mesoamerica and Colombia; co-designed a social and environmental risk-assessment tool for agricultural supply chains; and contributed mixed-methods research on women’s empowerment in cashew and dairy value chains in Honduras (integrating A-WEAI with interviews, workshops, and focus groups). Her current interests include strengthening intercultural approaches in research questions and study design and ensuring that evidence translates into practical solutions. She holds a BA in Anthropology and an MSc in Coffee Science and Economics.
