Majambo Gamoyo

Dr. Majambo Gamoyo is a climate researcher at the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, based in Nairobi, Kenya. He leads and contributes to strategic initiatives in climate information services, climate risk assessment, agro-climate advisory systems, and climate finance to inform adaptation planning and drive investments across Africa. His work integrates geospatial science and climate intelligence to support smallholder farmers in building resilience to climate variability and extreme weather, while scaling climate-smart agriculture and resilience solutions.

Prior to joining the Alliance in 2023, Dr. Gamoyo served as the Agriculture and Food Security Thematic Lead at the Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD). In this role, he coordinated the deployment of Earth Observation (EO) tools to support national agricultural programs across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Malawi, Ethiopia, and Zambia. He led regional research on food security and climate-smart agriculture, strengthened early warning systems, and supported governments in applying EO data for evidence-based planning and crop monitoring.

His technical expertise includes climate rationale design, greenhouse gas (GHG) impact assessment, early warning systems, climate-smart agriculture (CSA) advisory tools, and aligning adaptation strategies with national policies and UNFCCC processes. He has worked extensively with institutions such as the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the International Climate Initiative (IKI), the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA), and the World Bank supporting proposal development, climate finance mobilization, and capacity strengthening for climate-resilient development.

Dr. Gamoyo is deeply committed to advancing inclusive, gender-responsive decision-support tools and platforms. He works with a broad range of stakeholders including government agencies, NGOs, and farmer networks to co-develop and scale actionable climate services that enhance adaptive capacity and promote resilient, sustainable food systems across Africa.
