Marius Ekué

Marius Ekué is a Senior Scientist and the Country Representative of the Alliance in Cameroon. Marius has a BSc in Agronomy, an MSc in Tropical Forestry & a PhD in Population Genetics and Tree Breeding from the University of Göttingen, Germany.

His current works is focused on 1) building smart tree seed systems for biodiversity, livelihoods and resilient restoration; 2) safeguarding the natural capital and developing agroforestry systems (cacao, coffee and other cash crops) for diversification and adaptation to climate change; 3) building capacity of rural community to restore degraded hills with suitable species (including crops, grasses, trees and shrubs); 4) mobilizing investment in smallholder and community-led restoration to provide global environmental benefits and enhanced resilience and livelihoods; 5) promoting forest management models reconciling the needs of communities and the logging industry.

Previously, Marius worked on the use of genetic, stable isotopes and wood anatomy methods to fight illegal logging and associated trade worldwide.
