Yodit Balcha
Yodit Balcha is a Climate Change Adaptation researcher at the Alliance of Bioversity International and International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), which is part of the One CGIAR consortium. Her research focuses on various areas including nexus thinking, climate-smart agriculture (CSA), agricultural risk management, climate change adaptation and resilience, nature-based solutions, and natural resource economics.
Based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Yodit addresses these issues by utilizing interdisciplinary methods that incorporate system thinking. She assesses the synergies and trade-offs involved in these areas and identifies policy pathways that contribute to the progress of achieving sustainable development targets.
Yodit holds a master's degree in Sustainable Development from Uppsala University in Sweden, a master's course in Agricultural Economics from Haramaya University, and a bachelor's degree in Natural Resource Economics and Management from Mekelle University.
In addition to her research work, Yodit is a founding member of the African Women in Water and Climate Association and the Women in Water Diplomacy Network. She also serves as a Leadership Council member for both organizations, actively contributing to their objectives and activities.
