Grace Koech

Grace is a Senior Research Associate supporting climate information services efforts at the Climate Action Lever. She holds a BSc in Environmental science from Egerton University and a master’s degree in GIS and Remote Sensing from Dedan Kimathi University. Grace has worked in climate adaptation and resilience space for over 9 years. Her areas of expertise in climate vulnerability assessments, climate risk management, crop monitoring assessments, disaster risk reduction and gender integration.

Grace utilizes her skills in earth observation, geospatial technologies and data driven techniques to support resilience development, adaptation, and mitigation decisions to communities in the region. By using these innovations to spatially analyse and integrate diverse datasets shows her keen interest in understanding how climate variability and change influence different systems.

Before joining the Alliance, Grace played a crucial role in several significant projects within the SERVIR-USAID funded initiative. Her focus was on developing climate vulnerability maps for various sectors, particularly within the Eastern and Southern Africa region. These endeavours aimed to pinpoint critical climate change risks and vulnerabilities. The insights gained from these efforts were invaluable, guiding government and developmental agencies in strengthening adaptation initiatives and optimizing the allocation of resources under their program interventions.

Grace's current interest lies in climate information services for agriculture, aiming to support smallholder farmers by raising awareness about weather conditions to enhance crop yields and their capacity to adapt to climate change.
