George Amahnui

Amahnui George Amenchwi is an environmentalist with a PhD in Natural Resources and Environmental Management and currently serves as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT in Colombia. His research focuses on environmental sustainability in agricultural systems, particularly soil greenhouse gas emissions, carbon sequestration, and pathways for developing low-emission food systems. By quantifying greenhouse gas emissions and the mitigation potential of agricultural systems, his research helps inform the design of carbon market mechanisms and climate finance strategies that support the transition to low-emission food systems.

Amahnui is certified in Performance Leadership from Cornell University and has strong leadership and project management experience in the planning, implementation, and coordination of multidisciplinary research initiatives. He is passionate about advancing science and innovation that support climate mitigation, environmental sustainability, and sustainable development co-benefits, particularly in the Global South.
