Boaz S. Waswa

Boaz Waswa is a senior researcher specializing in soil health under the Multifunctional Landscape of the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT. His research and development work spans over 20 years focusing on soil health, climate smart agriculture, conservation/regenerative agriculture and scaling agriculture technology and innovations.
He is currently leading the team implementing the Growing Together a project scaling regenerative agriculture working with businesses in Tanzania and Ethiopia. He supports scaling of climate smart agriculture under the Accelerating Impacts of CGIAR Climate Research for Africa (AICCRA) project. He supports projects and partnerships promoting regenerative agriculture in coffee farming systems. Previously he supported the scaling sustainable intensification, climate smart agriculture and conservation Agriculture under the Ukama Ustawi Initiative of the One CGIAR initiative. He served as the Theme Leader, Integrated Crop Management of the Pan Africa Bean Research Alliance (PABRA). He is the Chair of Conservation Agriculture Hub Kenya (CA Hub Kenya) a network of partners promoting conservation agriculture and other sustainable practices in Kenya.
Boaz holds a PhD in Agriculture from the Center for Development Research (ZEF), University of Bonn, Germany, a master's degree in Environmental Studies (Agroforestry and Rural Development) and undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies (Science) both from Kenyatta University. Boaz has published over 20 papers, written and edited over 8 books and book chapters.
As a practicing researcher and farmer, he prides in sharing knowledge and his vision is to see a transformed, empowered and food secure farming community.
