The Alliance at UNFSS+4
The 2nd UN Food Systems Summit Stocktake (UNFSS+4) will take place from July 27–29, 2025, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, co-hosted by Ethiopia and Italy.
The Summit will provide a platform to reflect on progress towards more sustainable and equitable food systems, strengthen collaboration between member states and other key stakeholders, and unlock investment to accelerate action.
The summit will bring together countries, NGOs, UN agencies, donors and others to align efforts, strengthen partnerships, and ensure that financial resources and governance mechanisms are effectively directed toward building more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive food systems.
The outcomes of the summit will inform key international processes, including the UN General Assembly, the World Food Forum, the Second World Summit for Social Development and UNFCCC COP30, and support the ambitions of the G20 Presidency.

Side Event - Grounding Food Systems Transformation in Soil Health: Evidence and Cross-Sectoral Action

Side Event - Leveraging Food Systems for Rio Synergies: The Role of Multistakeholder Approaches

Multistakeholder Approaches (MSAs) can offer a powerful mechanism to provide a governance infrastructure for joint planning, decision-making and accountability, while also helping to shape integrated financing strategies. In light of increasingly pressing global challenges - from climate change to economic instability to growing geopolitical tensions - it is crucial to rethink agriculture and food systems, placing local and national production capacities, traditional knowledge, sustainable agricultural practices, social equity, and climate resilience at the center.
This session represents an important opportunity to discuss the recognition of the right to food sovereignty and reaffirm its catalytic role in economic, social, and environmental development, as a key lever for accelerating the transformation of food systems.
The discussion will also focus on identifying shared priorities and building common strategies to promote sovereign, resilient, and inclusive food systems, encouraging the creation of partnerships and collaborative networks to support advocacy, policies, and investments.
