Irmgard Jordan
Dr. Irmgard Jordan received her PhD in nutrition and home economic sciences from the Justus Liebig University of Giessen in 2012. Since then, she has led various research projects on food and nutrition security at the Institute of Nutritional Sciences and later at the Center for International Development and Environmental Research (ZEU) at the Justus Liebig University Giessen, Germany. As Senior Scientist, she also led the working group on international nutrition at ZEU. From October 2021 to September 2024, Irmgard continued her research activities as a CIM expert and Senior Researcher for the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT in Nairobi, Kenya. During that time, she was particularly interested in identifying barriers and facilitating factors for behavior change in resource-poor settings with a focus on identifying strategies and innovations for developing sustainable food systems to achieve food and nutrition security for all. Her activities included developing a nutrition sensitive food environment index within the HD4A project or facilitating participatory video making among young Turkana in Turkana County, Kenya within the FEnDrylands project which came to an end in December 202. Since November 2024 Irmgard is now engaged as Senior Research Consultant for the Alliance in the area of food environment and consumer behavior, based in Germany.
