Charlotte Chemarin

Charlotte Chemarin is a researcher based in Montpellier, France, driven by a commitment to shape sustainable food and land-use transformations. With a strong background in quantitative modelling and a Master’s degree in Economics of Environment and Natural Resources, she works at the intersection of science and policy to design pathways that reconcile food security and nutrition with urgent climate, biodiversity, and livelihood goals.

Her work centers on modelling the scaling-up of agroecological practices and understanding how diversified farming systems can accelerate sustainable transitions at national and global scales. As part of the Food, Agriculture, Biodiversity, Land-use and Energy (FABLE) Consortium Secretariat, she supports country teams in strengthening modelling capacities and developing context-specific pathways for sustainable development.

Recently, she has collaborated closely with researchers in Guatemala and Ethiopia, helping to integrate data, modelling tools, and policy insights to inform national strategies for food systems transformation under the FAO Global Roadmap Framework (2024-2025). She is also contributing to the BioFinCas project on scaling biodiversity-friendly and climate-resilient agricultural practices in Dominican Republic, Guatemala and Mexico (2023-2031) and the MoSAFS project on modelling pathways for a sustainable and agroecological transition of food systems in Africa (2025-2027).
