Andrea Surama Borrayo Pérez
I am an agronomist engineer in Renewable Natural Resources and a candidate for a Master of Science degree in Environmental Law from the University of San Carlos de Guatemala. Within the Alliance Bioversity International - CIAT I have worked as a research associate in the Climate Action team. Currently, I work in the development of the Sustainable Territories Adapted to Climate (TeSAC) approach, promoting the implementation of Sustainable Agriculture Adapted to Climate (ASAC) practices and agroecological approaches.
I collaborate directly with local producers in the implementation and monitoring of these practices, and coordinate innovation sites where sustainable climate-adapted techniques and technologies are experimented, fostering participation and co-innovation with communities, local associations and scientists.
I have worked in coordination with local, national and regional actors, and have coordinated actions with other research centers with the objective of generating applied science and knowledge that strengthen the resilience of the agricultural sector in Guatemala. I have also participated in the coordination of CGIAR initiatives, contributing to the integration of multidisciplinary approaches to address challenges related to climate change adaptation and sustainability.
My approach seeks to link scientific information with local knowledge to improve climate risk management and support informed decision making by farmers.
