Projects and Flagship Initiatives in Brazil

To contribute to solving some of Brazil's most pressing challenges, we carry out several projects across the country.

SERVIR Amazonia

The SERVIR Amazonia consortium (part of SERVIR Global), drives development and innovation through the use of information from Earth observation satellites and geospatial technologies. The consortium collaborates with local communities, harnessing their knowledge of the territory to make informed decisions in the face of challenges such as deforestation, natural disasters and climate change. This participatory approach strengthens capacity for sustainable response and management in the Amazon region.

Inclusive Digital Tools (ATDT)

The Inclusive Digital Tools (ATDT) project (part of the TRANSITIONS program), aims to reduce the gap in access to digital innovations in agriculture for smallholder farmers, women and marginalized groups in low- and middle-income countries by promoting inclusive digital tools for the promotion of agroecological practices. In Brazil, the project trains farmers to implement sustainable agronomic practices.

BIOTRAILS

In Brazil, the BIOTRAILS project focuses on the sustainable management of cultural forest products by Indigenous communities in the Amazon basin. This initiative integrates local knowledge with biodiversity conservation strategies, ensuring that Indigenous practices contribute to preserving ecosystems while promoting social justice and climate action. The aim is to strengthen the capacity of communities to sustainably manage natural resources and protect biodiversity in their territories. Furthermore, through the use of participatory systems dynamics (PSDM), it analyses the complex interrelationships of drivers in global value chains of traded products.
