Digitalizing Egypt’s Food Crop Value Chains Consultation Workshop

The Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, in collaboration with local authorities, gathers experts from agriculture and innovation sectors for an open dialogue on advancing digital integration in Egypt’s key food crop value chains.
The Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT of CGIAR, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation of Egypt, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Egypt, and the Innovators Support Fund (ISF) is set to host the ‘Digitalization of Egypt's Food Crop Value Chains: Advancing Digital Integration in Egypt’s Key Food Crop Value Chains’ Consultation Workshop. This event will take place on Monday, 27 January 2025, from 10:00 -16:00 (Cairo time) at the InterContinental Cairo Semiramis.
The workshop adopts an inclusive, multi-disciplinary approach, bringing together representatives from governmental agencies, research centers, banks, agribusinesses, extension and advisory services, value chain actors, and support organizations, to foster open dialogue on digitalizing Egypt’s key food crop value chains – tomatoes, date palms, and potatoes. Discussions will address production, logistics, and market access challenges, and propose digital transformation actions aligning with Egypt’s Vision 2030 strategy and national strategies.
By empowering small-scale farmers and streamlining supply chain operations, we can significantly contribute to the sustainable development of the Egypt’s agricultural sector. This approach not only enhances food security and promotes environmental conservation but also drives economic growth. The outcomes of the workshop will inform the project design and facilitate the establishment of strategic partnerships essential for its implementation.
