The Alliance's mission in Zambia is contributing to the reduction of hunger and poverty, while protecting natural resources and improving nutrition through research, development and project delivery aimed at increasing the eco-efficiency of agriculture. The Alliance's existence and collaboration with the and other partners in Zambia was established more than 50 years ago, and gained official registration in 2016 and accredited the diplomatic status in 2021. The Alliance's 'Resilient Seed Systems' initiatives positively contribute to the use of climate-smart crops, making Zambia one of the top three seed-producing countries in Africa.
The Alliance - in collaboration with the MoA and various partners - promotes diverse high nutritious crop production and consumption, including the incorporation of neglected and under-utilized local crops, fruit trees and edible insects for food, nutrition income enhancement. The Alliance trains delivery officers and farmers in the use of innovative technologies that improve farmer productivity. Along with various partners, the Alliance invests and supports climate-resilience strategies for climate change adaptation and mitigation, improves and supports farmer advisory services for crop monitoring, financial literacy and access, and the use of mechanization systems.
