Rose Nankya

Rose Nankya is a Program Leader at the Alliance. She works with partners in Uganda to implement projects focusing on biodiversity for food and agriculture. Rose is a Conservation Biologist, with over twenty years’ experience in biodiversity and sustainable natural resources management involving multi- stakeholder processes with NGOs, CBOs, Government Institutions and Donors.

She is a Fellow of the African Women in Agricultural Research and Development, who holds a Master of Science Degree in Environment Sciences and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Forestry as well as training in project planning and management, among others. Before joining the Alliance, she worked with the Environment Conservation Trust of Uganda (ECOTRUST) where she administered grants for biodiversity and sustainable natural resources management projects, Uganda Wildlife Authority and the Forest Department of Uganda.

Within the Alliance, she leads the FAO - GEF project on agrobiodiversity assessment, action planning and capacity enhancement in restoration, management, and conservation in 13 Districts of Uganda. She also played an active role in the development and implementation of the Diversity Assessment Tool for Agrobiodiversity and Resilience under the Sub- Saharan Africa Resilient Food Systems GEF IFAD project. This is in addition to many other projects she has let at the Alliance as a grant and national manager. She has over 15 publications in this field.
