Obadiah Mwangi

Obadiah Mwangi Maina is a dedicated agronomist and environmental resource manager with over seven years of expertise in advancing sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation. His proficiency spans agronomy, data collection, and the implementation of innovative farming technologies, especially in arid and semi-arid lands (ASALs). With practical skills in water management, drip irrigation, and system installation, Obadiah has consistently supported smallholder farmers in adopting resilient and sustainable practices.

Currently, he serves as a Research Associate in Agronomy at the Alliance of Bioversity International and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT). In this role, he manages long-term experimental trials under the Excellence in Agronomy (EIA) initiative in Western Kenya, focusing on soil analysis, yield data collection, and sustainable farming systems. His contributions extend to international initiatives, including integrated water management projects in Senegal and promoting climate-smart agricultural technologies.

Academically, he holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Science and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Resource Conservation from Kenyatta University. Through his extensive publications, he has advanced the understanding of soil health, organic farming practices, and sustainable agriculture. With expertise in project management, farmer training, and innovative problem-solving, he remains a vital force in enhancing agricultural productivity and environmental stewardship in Kenya and beyond.
