Nduwimana Innocent
Innocent Nduwimana is an agronomist coordinating the Burundi activities for the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT. He is an expert in the management of pests and diseases, as well as seed systems for vegetatively propagated crops. He received training in agronomic sciences, including plant and animal production, ecology and land use, socio-economics, and food technologies, at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of the University of Burundi with an MSc in horticulture.
His research is focused on bananas, agronomy, agrifood systems, and seed systems, with a particular emphasis on networking with key stakeholders in the seed supply chain. He is actively involved in the development of seed systems for vegetatively propagated crops, which are playing a pivotal role in disease control for bananas. Additionally, he is driving efforts to enhance access to improved seeds and promote seed health and diversity for small-scale farmers. Furthermore, he is working closely with the gender team to assess the role of gender in disease management for vegetatively propagated crops in the research area.
