Meghajit Sharma Shijagurumayum

Meghajit Sharma Shijagurumayum is a Postdoctoral Fellow (Gender and Social Inclusion) at the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT (CGIAR). In this role, he contributes to the CGIAR Gender Equality Initiative and the Agroecology Initiative, focusing on inclusive approaches to agricultural research and innovation.

Meghajit holds a B.Sc. in Agricultural Sciences, along with a Master's and Doctoral Degree in Agricultural Extension and Communication. His expertise includes inclusive scaling of innovations, transfer of technology agri-food value chains, intersectionality, climate change, and natural resource management. Prior to joining the Alliance, Meghajit worked extensively on understanding gender differences in economic empowerment, the adoption of sustainable cultivation practices and value chain for aromatic black rice in the Northeastern Region of India.

He is also a founding member of the Matai Society, a queer, youth- and women-led community organization in Manipur that aims to economically empower marginalized groups through livelihood skills training. Meghajit is based in Bangalore, India.
