Guy Blomme
Guy Blomme, a Belgian national, is a senior scientist of the Biodiversity for Food and Agriculture research program at the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT. His research focuses on regenerative and nature-positive approaches to create thriving banana and enset production landscapes. Guy’s work encompasses integrated disease management, disease risk assessment, the use of AI-powered tools to assess banana plant health, production system diversification and sustainable intensification, aiming to foster resilient and eco-conscious agriculture. He contributes to academic and technical capacity development, fosters partnerships, creates knowledge materials, and strengthens knowledge communication and scaling. While Guy’s research primarily centers on East and Central Africa, he has recently expanded his work to South Asia and the Greater Mekong sub-region, broadening his research and development network and linked impact.
