Guillermo Peña Chipatecua

Guillermo joined the research area of Multifunctional Landscapes at ABC in April 2021 as part of the team of the RUSTICA project in Colombia. His research focuses on waste valorization solutions to plug circularity into food systems.

From 2019 to 2020 he installed a biogas pilot plant at ABC and conducted a research project on biogas production from fruit and vegetable residues as Research Assistant at ICESI University.

Previously, he has been working as Project Manager for local NGOs implementing small-scaled solutions (biogas plants, composting, housing construction with natural materials, PV-systems) and supporting communities (capacity building, management, and conservation of natural resources) in rural regions of Colombia.

Before that he worked as a Research Assistant at RWTH Aachen University conducting bioenergy projects in Germany and Senegal and co-founded a nonprofit development assistance organization. He has been worked as freelance lecturer and instructor for ecotechnologies and circularity in agricultural productive systems.

He holds a Diploma (equal to master's degree) in Waste Management Engineering from RWTH Aachen University (Germany). He is passionate about circular economy, applied eco-technologies, permaculture and sustainable habits.
