After a 30-year career in the financial services sector in South Africa and the United Kingdom, which included CFO and CEO roles, Douglas has had a portfolio of non-executive directorships which included:  

HSBC Life (UK) Limited (Chair of the board)                                      Daiwa Capital Markets Europe Limited (Chair of the board)                  Marks & Spencer Financial Services (Non-executive director) 

Prior to joining the Alliance board Douglas was a member of the Bioversity International board where he chaired the Audit, Finance & Risk Committee. 

Vice-chair of the Alliance board since July 1st 2024, he chairs the Governance Committee and the Audit, Finance & Risk Committee, and is a member of ASPAC.  

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, England & Wales and a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants. 

Douglas is South African, currently living in the United Kingdom.
