Andy Jarvis

Andrew Jarvis was the Associate Director-General for Research, Strategy, and Innovation between 2020 and 2022. He has nearly two decades of research experience in developing countries to support the goals of alleviating poverty, adapting to climate change, and protecting the environment. His research spans disciplines including GIS-based analysis of plant genetic resources, climate change, digital agriculture, and policy-relevant research for development. He has published more than 80 original research articles, many of which have appeared in Nature, PNAS, and Proceedings of the Royal Society. He is based in Cali.
