Press and News National and International Meeting of Local Technical Agroclimatic Committees: 10-Year Celebration
The II National and International Meeting of Agroclimatic Technical Tables held on September 24 and 25, 2024, in Bogota, Colombia, was the ideal space to bring together leaders and experts from the agricultural sector to celebrate a decade of collaboration and climate resilience in Colombia and Latin America. During this event, key lessons were learned, strategies and tools were developed to strengthen the climate resilience of the agricultural sector were shared, and the achievements of the Local Technical Agroclimatic Committees (MTAs in Spanish) in their first 10 years were recognized. In addition, the stakeholders had the opportunity to interact and share experiences to continue reaching producers who can benefit from the information generated by the Agroclimatic Technical Tables in the country.

Among the most important topics was the way in which the MTAs communicate their recommendations in the face of different challenges such as illiteracy, Indigenous languages, little or no access to internet in rural areas, where ideas for alternatives were also put forward to be shared and used successfully in other territories.
On the other hand, the event included the participation of more than 26 tables from all over the country, panels on technological and social innovation, territorial governance, scalability of MTAs, and a differential approach based on gender, ethnicity and youth. In addition, an evaluation of the impact of the MTAs throughout this decade was carried out and future actions were planned to ensure their sustainability. It is important to mention that on the previous day, September 23, we attended and celebrated the establishment of the 26th Local Technical Agroclimatic Committee in Colombia, in Cundinamarca.
This event was possible thanks to the institutional efforts of the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, FAO Colombia, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Fondo Acción, Agrosavia and Ideam, and strengthened the projects: Colombia Agroalimentaria Sostenible, Agricultura Sostenible, de Bajo Impacto y Resiliente, y la iniciativa de Territorios Verdes Climáticamente Inteligentes.
A step closer to a more sustainable and resilient future for the agricultural sector!
