Climate Readiness
Enabling governments and farmers to anticipate climate risks, build long-term resilience, and avoid shocks
Why it matters
Climate readiness prepares us to face the escalating challenges of climate change. By prioritizing readiness, we equip ourselves with the tools, knowledge, and infrastructure needed to adapt to changing environmental conditions and mitigate potential risks. Further, readiness ensures that we can effectively respond to the impacts of climate change, thus protecting lives, livelihoods, and ecosystems for present and future generations.
Our work in advancing climate readiness
Our work in increasing society’s climate readiness focuses on building long-term capacity to prevent climate shocks. We empower stakeholders - ranging from farmers to governments and private companies – to assess and anticipate climate risks, develop innovative strategies to absorb shocks, and influence policies and investments. Through partnerships, we scale climate-smart innovations globally.
For example, we are using agribusiness acceleration, science-based technical assistance, and networks of rural youth ‘agripreneurs’ to improve small and medium enterprise business models to deliver climate-smart agriculture innovation bundles across Kenya, Rwanda, Senegal, Uganda, Zambia, Ecuador, Colombia, Guatemala, El Salvador, Bolivia, Perú, México, and Honduras.
