Launch of the Report: Latin American and Caribbean Landscape Report of Food Security and Healthy Diets

The new Latin American and Caribbean landscape report of food security and healthy diets, developed by the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT together with the Instituto de Nutrición de Centroamérica y Panamá (INCAP), offers an updated look at the challenges facing the region in ensuring adequate and equitable nutrition.

Despite being a world agricultural power, Latin America and the Caribbean has one of the greatest inequalities between women and men in food security at the global level, while maintaining a sugar consumption twelve times higher than the recommended level.

The report highlights how these gaps contribute to health inequalities and underscores the need for public policies that address food security from a comprehensive perspective, considering gender, territory and access to healthy diets.

We invite you to learn more about the main findings of the report in its virtual launch, which will be held on May 4 9:00 a.m. Colombia (UTC-5) in English and on May 5 10: 00 a.m. Colombia (UTC-5) in Spanish.

This space will bring together experts who will present key evidence and reflections to better understand the challenges and opportunities for moving towards healthier and more equitable diets in the region.
