Consultation Workshop: Strengthening Tunisia’s Innovation Ecosystem for a Climate-Resilient Agriculture
CGIAR Centers–The Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT and the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA)–together with l'Institution de la Recherche et de l'Enseignement Supérieur Agricoles (IRESA), and the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries of Tunisia, are hosting the ‘Consultation Workshop: Strengthening Tunisia’s Innovation Ecosystem for a Climate-Resilient Agriculture’. The event will take place on Tuesday, 20 May 2025, from 9:30-16:00 (Tunis time) at the Hotel Golden Carthage Gammarth (Tunisia).
This high-level workshop will convene national and international stakeholders–including Government officials, researchers, agribusiness leaders, innovation support organizations, startups, investors, and farmers–in a participatory forum to drive collective action towards strengthening Tunisia’s innovation ecosystem for food security, climate resilience, and economic sustainability. Key themes include international cooperation, knowledge exchange, technology transfer and the adaptation of global best practices and innovation models to Tunisia’s local context. Participants will explore models to connect research, entrepreneurship, and agri-tech solutions that are accessible, affordable, and deployable for end-users on the ground. Discussions will also address barriers to innovation and identify collaboration opportunities for digital transformation, aligned with national priorities under Tunisia’s Vision 2035 and the Economic and Social Development Plan (PDES) 2023–2025.
Outcomes from the workshop will shape the design and priority areas of the AgriTech4Tunisia Initiative–setting out to build institutional capacity, mobilize talent, and promote the co-creation of solutions among entrepreneurial scientists, researchers, and industry players. The event will also lay the foundation for establishing strategic partnerships required for project implementation.
