Closure of the Sustainable Land Use Systems (SLUS) project for the reduction of deforestation and the construction of peace

After 5 years, we proudly celebrate the closing of the Sustainable Land Use Systems (SLUS) project, led by the Bioversity International Alliance and CIAT in conjunction with ZALF, Thunen and CIPAV, a project in which we have sown change in municipalities affected by conflict and deforestation in the departments of Cesar and Caqueta.

The SLUS project began its implementation in 2018 in municipalities affected by the armed conflict and deforestation in the departments of Caquetá and Cesar, where government entities at the national and departmental level, international cooperants, unions and rural communities have participated. The impacts of the project have been evidenced in four axes:

1. Diversification of livelihoods to promote rural development.
2. Reducing deforestation and contributing to climate change mitigation.

3. Increasing agricultural productivity, income and jobs.

4.. Reducing conflicts over the use of natural resources.
