Xiaojing (Xiao) Wei

Xiao grew up in China and did her doctoral thesis at the University of Minnesota on drought, flooding, and herbivory in willow and poplar species, then worked on breeding climate-resilient conifers before joining the Alliance in 2024. Currently, her work focuses on developing operational climate information services and early warning systems for rice, coffee, seaweed, and cassava. She is particularly interested in i) how these tools can contribute to broader development objectives, and ii) how AI (and other technologies) can accelerate such processes.
