Valentin Guignon

Valentin Guignon first joined Bioversity International, now the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, in 2010 as a bioinformatics specialist to mainly work on the GreenPhyl database within the Commodities program for 16 months. After a 6 months contract in CIRAD, he came back to Bioversity International in January 2012 till today to continue his work on gene families in GreenPhyl.

He is now also involved in the Musa Germplasm Information System (MGIS), the plant Breeding API (BrAPI), the Banana Genome Hub (BGH), Florilège (CIRAD project), Gigwa and other projects. While GreenPhyl database actually includes 46 species with pangenomes, Valentin has mainly worked on the Banana and Cocoa genomes and participated to their sequencing.

His main skills are web user interfaces (UI), application programming interface (API), computation pipelines, algorithms, databases (CHADO) and CMS (Drupal).
