Sillus Oduor

Sillus Otieno Oduor is a Soil Scientist and Research Associate in Agronomy and Laboratory Services at the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, Kenya. He holds a Master of Science in Soil Science from Egerton University and a Bachelor of Science in Soil Science and Plant Nutrition with Information Technology from Maseno University.

He has extensive experience in soil and plant analysis, laboratory management, field experimentation, and agricultural research. In his current role, he manages laboratory operations, develops standard operating procedures for analytical equipment, conducts soil, plant, fertilizer, and manure analyses, and coordinates field and greenhouse trials from establishment through data collection and final evaluation. He also contributes to technical reporting, scientific publications, and capacity-building initiatives.

Prior to joining the Alliance, he worked as a Soil Scientist at the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO), where he led soil chemistry laboratory activities, provided fertility recommendations to farmers, and supported the implementation of conservation agriculture research under the Ukama Ustawi Project. He has also served as a Part-Time Lecturer at Egerton University, where he taught soil science-related courses and supervised laboratory practicals.

His research interests include soil fertility management, soil health, sustainable land management, climate-smart agriculture, conservation agriculture, and biofortification. He has published peer-reviewed research and presented scientific papers and posters at regional and international conferences, including the Africa Farm Management Association (AFMA) conferences.
