Mathieu Rouard

I am a senior researcher with a background in computational biology, bioinformatics, and plant genomics. My primary research interest is in applying the most advanced genomics science to support the conservation and utilization of genetic resources for crop improvement, with a focus on developing countries.

Since 2014, I have made contributions to the field, including the development of methods, datasets, databases, and analytical tools, with a specific focus on the digitalization of genebanks, particularly for the banana crop. My research has also focused on unraveling the mysteries of banana genomes .

Currently, I lead the genomics and bioinformatics team of the banana program and I am one of the founding members of the South Green Bioinformatics platform, which aims to provide cutting-edge bioinformatics support to plant researchers interested in tropical crops and associated pathogens.
