Maria Garruccio

Maria is the Manager of the Information Management and Open Science Team at the Alliance. Her team supports Alliance scientists throughout the entire research cycle. They provide support and expertise with finding research papers, bibliographic searches and background information, as well as providing guidance on scholarly publishing. They facilitate access to scientific documentation, tools, bibliographic databases, and provide training on research tools such as Mendeley and Web of Science.

Her team are also strong advocates of open access and open science and provide guidance on scholarly publishing and open licenses. Maria is the repository manager for the institutional publications archive and oversee the areas concerning workflows, metadata curation, quality control and promotion of the repository. To further improve and guide researchers on this important subject, Maria received Creative Commons Certification in Open Licenses in 2018.

Maria also has experience in the domain of research data management, specifically in data curation, data annotation, and has developed data management guidelines. She have also carried out training on data anonymization. She has certification from the University of Michigan ICPSR Summer Program (2016) on Curating Research Data Management for Re-Use.
