Luis Hernandez

Luis Hernandez currently works with the Tropical Forages Program at the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT. He is passionate about plant breeding and host plant resistance in cultivated pastures (Urochloa and Panicum). He is an Agronomist and holds a Master of Science degree in agricultural sciences from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia (UNAL) and currently, he is carrying out his doctoral studies in natural resources - research line in plant breeding - at the Universidad Nacional del Nordeste - UNNE (ARG).
His research is focused on obtaining pastures that contribute to optimizing livestock systems. His major skills and activities are focused on plant breeding (Urochloa, Megathyrsus): Experimental Design, Plant Phenotyping, Host Plant Resistance, Data Management (Collection, Analysis), Cross Evaluation Selection, genotype-by-environmental interaction, Variance components analysis, Nursery and Breeding Seed Bank Management.
