Lennart Woltering

Lennart Woltering leads business development and scaling for Ona and Sikia, two AI products under the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT's Tatu portfolio that bring computer vision and language models to ordinary smartphones (Ona for crop measurement, Sikia for user feedback), strengthening agricultural research and development across the Global South. Based in Arusha, Tanzania, he is the Alliance's Sustainable Innovation and Transformation Lead for Digital Inclusion.
Woltering has spent over 20 years helping innovations move from pilot to scale, in roles at ICRISAT, CIMMYT, GIZ, and in the private sector. That focus led him to create the Scaling Scan, a diagnostic tool organizations worldwide now use to identify what stands in the way of scaling their own innovations, a track record he now applies to positioning Ona and Sikia for global impact. He holds a PhD in Social Sciences from Wageningen University.
