Karen Valeria Camilo Reyes

I hold a master’s degree in economics, and I have always been motivated by development studies and how the economy might contribute to improving the welfare of the most disadvantaged people. I have five years of experience in applied economics, development research and complex data analysis. Specifically, my labor experience is related to development studies and public policies. I work with the Alliance's Foresight and Applied Economics team. We elaborate development studies and public policies to improve the living conditions of vulnerable rural families.

Currently, I work with the CGIAR research initiative on Low-Emission Food Systems, also known as MITIGATE+, which aims to reduce annual global food systems emissions by 7% by 2030 by working closely with key actors in the target countries to ensure they are equipped to make evidence-based decisions and address challenges in food systems discourse, policy development and implementation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

I particularly work on MITIGATE’s impact evaluation component, designing and applying quantitative and qualitative social research using complex data analysis. Our goal is to offer evidence about the impact of the project activities on behavioral changes according to the theory of change, and we would use quantitative methodologies such as a randomized controlled trial, as well qualitative tools as outcome trajectory.
