Julián David Barrios Pérez

Colombian, Sanitary and Environmental Engineer from Universidad del Valle with a Master's degree in Environmental Engineering from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Between 2015 - 2017, he joined the Decision and Policy Analysis team (DAPA) to support everything related to the estimation of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions at national and subnational levels using IPCC methodologies.
Between 2017-2020, he left CIAT to start his master's degree in Environmental Engineering where he was linked to the Laboratory for Research in Advanced Water Treatment Processes (LIPATA) of the Juriquilla Academic Unit of the Institute of Engineering of the UNAM, whose degree work was recognized and awarded as the best master's thesis by generating an innovative control proposal to maximize biogas production from agave hydrolysates.
Since 2020 to date he works at the Alliance of Bioversity and CIAT as Senior Research Associate in the Climate Action lever leading work related to the estimation of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions in agricultural and livestock systems, value chains and development of calculation tools for the Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) of GHG emissions. Certified by the GHG Management Institute in cross-cutting issues (501), Energy sector (511) and AFOLU sector (541) of the IPCC.
