Jane Girly Cuerdo Balanza

Jane has extensive experience in agricultural and environmental science, particularly in the area of climate action, with a proven track record in implementing sustainable adaptation strategies. Her expertise encompasses climate information services, crop suitability modeling, watershed management, and climate risk vulnerability assessments, which have significantly contributed to enhancing climate resilience in vulnerable agricultural communities in the Philippines and selected countries in Asia.

Jane is also a GIS expert, leveraging spatial analysis to provide data-driven solutions that support improved decision-making processes. In her most recent role as a Senior Research Associate, she was engaged in developing climate services and climate smart mapping aimed at reducing risks for producers facing dynamic weather conditions. She successfully led the co-development of innovative Climate Information Services (CIS) platform, in collaboration with the Philippine Department of Agriculture, known as the Agro-Climatic Advisory Portal (ACAP), which delivers near real-time weather-adjusted advisory services for farmers.

Her collaborative approach has also fostered successful partnerships with various organizations, including the Department of Agriculture and the World Food Programme, focusing on enhancing climate resilience in agriculture.
