Guy Marius Assogba

Guy Marius Assogba, born and raised in Benin, began his academic journey in agronomy at the University of Abomey-Calavi, where he earned his Agronomist Engineer degree in 2005. Ten years later, he was awarded the prestigious Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship, enabling him to pursue a master’s degree in Hydraulic Engineering-Land and Water Development at IHE Delft (Netherlands) and the Asian Institute of Technology (Thailand).
Marius started his professional career as an extension agent at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fishing and Livestock of Benin. He was appointed to the position of Senior Officer for Training, Information, and Communication. In 2018, he joined Wageningen Research and University (WUR) as a PhD candidate under to the project “Capitalizing the Inland Valley Potential for Food and Nutrition Security for Smallholder Farmers in West Africa (CIPA)”, implemented by AfricaRice in partnership with WUR other institutions.
Driven by a strong passion for knowledge dissemination and community empowerment, Marius works closely with farmers across diverse agro-ecological zones, as well as with agricultural organizations, to co-develop innovative technologies aimed at improving crop productivity and strengthening food security. He currently serves as a Senior Research Associate in Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) at the Alliance of  Bioversity International and CIAT in Dakar, Senegal, under the supervision of the Senior Scientist for Climate Information Services (CIS)-Climate Action.
