Frans Schapendonk

I am a climate security specialist with the CGIAR FOCUS Climate Security team focusing predominantly on assessing and seeking to promote the consideration of the climate, peace, and security nexus within climate change policies and strategies, the policymaking process itself, and in the institutional arrangements and multi-level governance systems behind climate change governance.

My other areas of interest include the relationship between climate change, human mobilities, and conflict and fragility. My analysis in these thematic areas is primarily underpinned by qualitative and mixed method forms of textual analysis, including content analysis, discourse analysis, thematic analysis. I hold a BA in History and an MA in Post-war Recovery Studies, both from the University of York.
