Ermias Tesfaye Teferi

I possess extensive expertise in the field of agricultural economics, having accumulated more than 16 years of professional experience. My areas of specialization encompass natural resources and environmental valuation, agricultural marketing and value chain analysis, institutional and policy analysis, as well as the evaluation of food system transformation. My research focuses on addressing the market gap of public policies using innovative economic valuations tools. I obtained a PhD in Agrobiodiversity in 2018 from the Institute of Life Science at the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies in Italy. Prior to that, I completed a Master of Science degree in Agricultural Economics in 2013 from Haramaya University, and a bachelor's degree in Natural Resources Economics and Management from Mekele University. I am currently employed as a postdoctoral fellow at the food environment and consumer behaviour lever focusing on SHiFT initiative, which is working to achieve a sustainable and nutritious diet by implementing integrated demand-side interventions to alter the food systems in East and West African countries.
Before assuming my current post, I held the role of Head of the Socioeconomic and Water Governance study Unit at the Blue-Nile Water Institute, which is affiliated with Bahir Dar University. In the position, I assumed the responsibility of offering scientific expertise, mentoring, and direction to a diverse group of researchers. My duties encompassed several aspects such as overseeing the process of securing research funding through research grant writing, coordinating research endeavours, and doing data analysis as well as composing scientific papers.
