Alejandra Gil-Ordóñez

I am a Research Associate in the Virology and Crop Protection team of the Cassava Program. My research is focused on molecular biology and bioinformatics, with special interest in population genetics, microbiology, ecology, and evolution of pathogenic microorganisms. I have experience in biotechnology, Illumina and Nanopore sequencing and bioinformatics processing of first, second and third generation microbial sequences applied to diagnosis, genomic surveillance, and molecular characterization of cassava-associated pathogens. I received my BSc in Biology in 2022, and I am currently enrolled in the master’s program in Biological Sciences at Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia.
