Adam Savelli

Adam is a Climate Security Specialist with a focus on climate-related mobility, natural resource management, climate-smart agriculture, and local-level adaptation. He currently serves as the CGIAR FOCUS Climate Security’s Regional Focal Point for South and Southeast Asia and leads the Finance 4 Climate Security research initiative. Adam previously served as a Climate-Smart Agriculture Policy and Investment Analyst. He is the lead and co-author of many peer-reviewed articles and reports, and specializes in qualitative methods: semi-structured interviews, focus groups discussions, participatory workshops, expert elicitation, textual/policy analysis, and surveys.

Adam earned an MSc with Distinction in Development Administration and Planning from University College London’s Bartlett Development Planning Unit (DPU). His MSc dissertation explored the political economy of the Kampala city government’s municipal response to forced migration, and earned a departmental commendation. He also helped lead development of the DPU’s conflict and post-conflict contexts working group. He further holds a BA in Political Science from SUNY - Purchase College. Before moving to research, ten years of senior-level private sector management experience helped cultivate his business development, partnership management, and scaling expertise.
