Tool for an economic analysis of cassava and dried cassava chips production

This tool allows analyzing the profitability of the production of cassava roots and dried cassava chips. With this tool, it will be possible to interact with different production variables such as: production costs, yields, sales prices according to dry matter quality parameters, and others. Through this analysis, the cassava producers will be able to examine their processing system to make decisions that maximize the profitability.

In what context is this tool useful?

If producers use this tool in crop planning to analyze the profitability of their cassava root and/or dried cassava chip production, they will be able to make decisions that maximize the profitability of their operations.

The tool uses pre-determined expenditure categories based on data collected and validated with 150 cassava producers in the Colombian Caribbean region. However, the tool can be used for any other region where cassava is produced.

As part of the "Yuca (Cassava) País" project, three workshops were held in July 2022 in the Sucre, Córdoba, and Bolivar regions in Colombia. In these workshops, more than 250 cassava producers were trained in the use of this tool for analyzing the profitability of the production of cassava roots and dried cassava chips.
