Data and Information Management Plan 2015 – 2016

Data and Information Management Plan 2015 – 2016

Since the arrival of Leroy Mwanzia as Data and Information Manager at CIAT, the team has been working on an action plan for 2015. The visit of Luz Marina Alvare from IFPRI helped a great deal in identifying our priorities. We now have set ourselves concrete objectives which are part of CIAT’s Business Plan related to the publishing of post print manuscripts, and primary data and metadata. We also aim at establishing an operational data management planning tool with all new CIAT projects from June 2015.

In addition, the data and information management team developed a Theory of Change for its work and thrives towards 3 types of results:

  • The data and information management group becomes the knowledge hub for scientists, partners, donors, decision makers and interested public
  • CIAT staff embrace an open science culture and become 100% compliant with Open Access goals without compromising quality of work
  • CIAT staff, scientist worldwide, partners & decision makers have wide access to our intellectual assets including Data.

The below diagram illustrates the range of outputs that we intend to produce and the tools that we plan to use (click on the diagram to enlarge):

For each expected results we have identified the following list of products or achievements target for 2015-2016
