Call for abstracts for 2016 ISHS-ProMusa Symposium

The 2016 ISHS-ProMusa Symposium – Agroecological approaches to promote innovative banana production systems – will take place from 10-15 October 2016 in Montpellier, France, and will focus on agroecological approaches to promote innovative banana production systems. 

The objective of the symposium, organized by ProMusa and hosted by CIRAD, is to take stock of current scientific knowledge and technical advances in the deployment of agroecological approaches in banana production, and how these can contribute to the development of innovative sustainable production systems. Participants will share the results of their scientific research on bananas, along with the technical, strategic or organizational options they implement at the field scale, the farm level or at regional scale to promote agroecological approaches and provide added value for establishing more sustainable banana agroecosystems.

The symposium organizers invite authors to submit abstracts (deadline 25 March 2016) for oral and poster presentation under the sessions listed below:

1. Sharing the concepts of agroecology and illustrating their usage

2. Managing plant diversity to ensure ecosystem services

3. Improving soil functioning through optimizing mineral and water resource use (field level)

4. Enhancing biological regulations in banana cropping systems (field level)

5. Processes, multi-criteria assessment of performances, and contextual factors driving stakeholder strategies (at farm, landscape or higher levels)

Registration will open in early January 2016.
