Bioversity International's scientific facts and blogs reap awards in CGIAR Development Dialogues competitions

We would like to congratulate Carlo Fadda, Theme leader, Productive Agricultural Ecosystems, Bioversity International, for receiving the highest jury vote in the CGIAR Development Dialogues' 'Talking Science' competition.

The first CGIAR Development Dialogues focused global attention on the fundamental roles of agriculture, livestock, fisheries, forestry, landscapes and food systems – and demonstrated how these areas are fundamental to achieving the emerging UN Sustainable Development Goals.

As part of activities around the event, CGIAR ran two competitions - 'Living Data', to which research centres were called to contribute scientific facts and 'Talking Science' - an opportunity for researchers around the world to showcase their research and discuss how or why it is important in attaining or influencing the Sustainable Development Goals.

Carlo Fadda's blog for 'Talking Science' 'How local is local? Working with Ethiopian farmers to adapt to climate change' received the highest vote from the jury consisting of communications, food security, international development, Sustainable Development Goals and scientific research experts.

Kudos also to Sonja Kuijpers and Maria Angela Peñafiel whose infographics inspired by Bioversity International's '7 facts about forest and tree genetic diversity and why it matters' got them second and third place according to the jury of the 'Living Data' competition.
