Digital Climate Advisory Services (DCAS) in Malawi – Gender responsive business cases report

This report assesses Malawi’s Digital Climate Advisory Services (DCAS) ecosystem with a focus on how the public sector–led model is structured, how sustainable and scalable it is, and how effectively it responds to gender-based barriers in access and use. Malawi’s high exposure to climate variability—combined with a predominantly rain-fed, smallholder farming system—makes timely, reliable, and actionable climate information essential for resilience, productivity, and food security. The assessment draws on a case study approach, including interviews with key stakeholders and focus group discussions with smallholder farmers across selected districts, applying a gender analysis lens that examines access, participation, benefits, and agency.
