About RAMP-Accelerate Bootcamp
On this occasion, you will get the chance to hear the presentations of nine promising science-based innovations from Alliance scientists which have been selected to join the internal accelerator program RAMP-Accelerate. Following a call for applications and thorough selection process in conjunction with partners including Bayer, Climate Resilient Africa Fund, Partners in Food Solutions, and 2Blades, the nine selected innovations for RAMP-Accelerate were announced at Alliance Science Week 2025.
The nine innovation teams will now begin their training with a fully funded, three-day immersive bootcamp on July 1-3, onsite at the Alliance Bioversity-CIAT Campus in Palmira, Colombia. The Bootcamp will offer selected innovation teams a dynamic mix of expert coaching, entrepreneurial workshops, partner engagement, and initial support to develop and validate their go-to-market strategies; designed to inspire and equip participants with the mindset, clarity of purpose, and foundational tools needed to transform their ideas into impactful ventures – starting from who they aspire to become, not just what they want to build.
Our three-day Bootcamp for the teams will culminate in an open Venture Showcase: a presentation-style event inviting in-person Alliance staff based in the Palmira campus, local innovation ecosystem leaders, and virtual attendees via Zoom Webinar.

The global agri-food system is facing unprecedented challenges, placing an urgent demand on transformative innovations. Despite significant advancements in AI, genetic innovation, remote sensing, and data-driven solutions, many promising research outputs in agri-food and climate systems remain stalled to the conceptual or pre-commercial stage. These outputs often sit "on the shelf," remain under-valorized at scale, lack a viable business model, and are overly dependent on grant funding. Without dedicated translational research efforts, these innovations risk being underutilized, preventing them from reaching the communities and businesses that need them most.
RAMP - Research and Market Pathways is an internal accelerator program that aims to equip scientists from the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT and CGIAR with the skills, support, and industry connections needed to transform scientific discoveries into market-ready solutions. RAMP helps bridge the gap between research and real-world applications, driving the translation of innovations into viable, impactful products. RAMP is an initiative of CGIAR Accelerate for Impact Platform (A4IP), offered under the Global Partnerships Unit of the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT.
RAMP acts as a funnel through three stages of learning – Discover, Launch, and Accelerate –drawing on existing innovation across the Alliance Bioversity-CIAT and CGIAR that, if better connected, have immense potential for market-driven impact-at-scale.
RAMP-Discover consists of introductory-level sessions aiming to introduce scientists to entrepreneurial concepts and help identify new audiences and impact pathways.
RAMP-Launch comprises intermediate training on early-stage market validation, sustainable business models, and presenting scaling strategies for expert feedback on next steps.
RAMP-Accelerate is an intensive cohort-style accelerator running for ~6 months, including an in-person bootcamp, business-oriented training, industry collaboration, and opportunity for funding awards for a cohort of selected market-viable innovations.
