Sid Mehta

Sid Mehta grew up the son of a farmer, became a restaurant entrepreneur at 21, and has spent 25 years since moving between worlds that rarely talk to each other — the multigenerational farm, the institutional kitchen, the policy table, and the global forum. That full-chain fluency is the foundation of everything he does.

He is the Founder and CEO of Greenworks Inc., a Canada-based global consultancy specialising in sustainable food systems, coalition-building, advocacy, and strategic communications, and Co-Founder of Nihkhah — an initiative co-created with Indigenous Chef Stephanie Baryluk that brings Indigenous food knowledge, culture, and wisdom into food system transformation. Across both organisations, Sid builds innovation ecosystems and unlikely-but-effective coalitions, using procurement as a demand lever for change and bridging field-level operations with global policy to deliver real, measurable outcomes.

A High-Level Champion for SDG 12.3 — an invitation-only coalition of Ministers, Presidents, and CEOs dedicated to halving food loss and waste by 2030 — Sid is internationally recognised for his leadership at the intersection of climate, nature, nutrition, and business, with active engagement at the UN COPs, UN General Assembly, Convention on Biological Diversity, Committee on World Food Security, and the UN World Food Forum.

Sid has served as adjunct faculty at several universities and is a frequent guest speaker at academic institutions across North America. He sits on the Board of the Food for Climate League, the Industry Advisory Committee of the Climate Bonds Initiative, and the Academic Working Group of Food Tank. He previously served as Executive Vice President at Emerging Ag Inc. and led the Business Service Group at Simon Fraser University, where he founded the Climate Action Labs.
